BRANDING PROJECT
Lille Lykke
Lille Lykke is a fictional modern café located in Oslo. It focuses on specialty coffee, locally made pastries and sandwiches.
My mission was to develop a visual identity that reflects the café’s values: youthful, colourful, and bold. The cafe will have Scandinavian interior design and a design language expressed through strong colours. This brand challenges the traditional café aesthetic with a playful and distinctive profile, where quality and personality take center stage. The delivery includes a logo, colour palette, typography, packaging, printed materials, signage, and storefront design.
Solution
The idea for the logo came from the word lykke (meaning “happiness”), and how you can find happiness in a good cup of coffee. This was personified in the logo with a coffee bean joyfully taking a relaxing bath in a cup.
It was important that the brand’s charm came through in both the illustration and typography. The color palette is bold, youthful, and slightly retro, complementing the character of the logo. The bold colours are also chosen to amplify “Happiness” as a concept.
The typography has a retro and fun aesthetic to match the illustration, as well as adding to the “Happiness”-concept.
