EDITORIAL DESIGN & ILLUSTRATION PROJECT
2026 Calendar
Fugleadvokatene, based in Oslo, rescues and rehabilitates injured or abandoned birds. The organisation educates the public about avian welfare through a team of dedicated volunteers and specialists. They promote bird conservation and emphasise the ecological importance of avian species, reflecting their vital role in the urban environment.
I was again commissioned to design the 2026 calendar for the Fugleadvokatene, which is sold both online via social media and at local markets. The proceeds from these sales help cover the costs of rescuing and rehabilitating injured birds.
The calendar showcases 12 bird patients from the past year, each representing a bird species. My goal this time was to also share knowledge about each species with a “fun fact” for each of the species.
Solution
Following feedback from owners of previous editions of the calendar, I decided to further develop the design. Each month received its own color expression, carefully adapted to create a more holistic, aesthetic and visually interesting expression. The goal was to balance the decorative with the functional, so that the calendar functions as both a practical tool and a visual element in the room. At the same time, the marking of anniversaries was adjusted for better readability and usability.
As part of the creative further development, I have a conscious goal of illustrating the birds in a new way every year. This edition is therefore illustrated with hand-painted watercolours.
